Welcome to the Ladybird Room
 Ladybird Room Information

The Ladybird Room 3 – 5 years

Our Ladybird room accommodates 56 3-5 year olds at any one time.  We have 1 teacher, 7 qualified Early Years Workers and 4 support staff to ensure we meet the individual, care and learning needs of the children.   The Ladybird room provides the children with space, resources and support to take forward their interests and learning.  During their nursery session the children are encouraged to make choices and to move freely between all areas to engage in their learning. The children have daily opportunities for physical activities either outdoors, in the physical area or through the use of the school gym hall.   During the course of the session the children are encouraged to cooperate and share with each other.  They participate in activities provided by the staff to improve their development and learning across a variety of curricular areas such as creativity, literacy, maths, sciences and ICT.  We aim for our children to be happy, confident, independent and successful therefore offer lots of praise, encouragement, support and challenge to our children.

Our planning is influenced by the Scottish national curriculum guidance, Curriculum for Excellence which is used by all nurseries and schools across Scotland.  We plan our learning experiences from the interests of the children using mind maps, observations and consultations.
